At Wildflower Acres Farm our management practices are designed to develop goats that are productive, resilient, and well-suited for pasture conditions where performance matters.
We raise and sell registered Kiko breeding stock while maintaining a practical, pasture-based management system. Our goal is to produce goats that perform well for both commercial producers and seedstock operations. Rather than relying on intensive feeding or heavy intervention, we focus on genetics, natural ability, and sound herd management.
Our goats are raised in a pasture-based system, which allows them to develop the natural traits that make Kiko goats so valuable.
Goats at Wildflower Acres Farm are expected to:
Hay is provided when pasture is limited, and supplemental feed may be used during periods of higher nutritional demand such as late gestation and early lactation. By avoiding heavy grain feeding, we ensure our goats develop the ability to perform under practical farm conditions.
Wildflower Acres Farm produces registered Kiko breeding stock selected for performance, structural soundness, and maternal ability.
Our breeding program focuses on traits that improve productivity in a pasture-based system, including:
Animals that do not meet our standards are culled from the breeding program, ensuring that only the most productive and functional genetics move forward.
Our does kid in a pasture environment with access to shelter. While shelters are available, does are not confined to kidding barns and often choose their own preferred location to kid. This approach helps ensure that our goats retain strong maternal instincts, hardiness, and independence. We monitor does closely during kidding season, but we prefer animals that can kid and raise their offspring with minimal assistance. Does that require frequent intervention are not retained in the breeding program.
Kids are raised with their mothers and allowed to develop naturally within the herd.
This management approach encourages:
Kids raised in this environment tend to adapt easily when moved to new farms and management systems.
Internal parasites are one of the biggest challenges for goat producers in the southeastern United States. Rather than relying on routine deworming, we focus on selective parasite management and genetic resistance.
Our program includes:
Over time, this approach strengthens the overall parasite resistance of the herd.
Preventative health management is a key component of maintaining a productive herd.
Our health program includes:
Our goal is to develop goats that remain healthy and productive while requiring minimal medical intervention.
We continually evaluate our herd to ensure we are producing goats that meet the needs of today’s producers. Performance, health, maternal traits, and structural soundness are all considered when making breeding decisions. Through careful selection and practical management, we strive to produce durable, productive goats that perform well in pasture-based systems.
Wildflower Acres Farm raises registered Kiko goats for sale in Florida and serves goat producers throughout the Southeast.
