Which Sire Line Fits Your Program?

Not sure which direction to take your herd? Here’s how our two sire lines compare. Choosing the right sire line depends on your goals and how you want your herd to perform.

Our program is built around producing registered breeding stock, with each sire line selected to improve specific traits within the herd. While individual animals may be marketed commercially when appropriate, our primary focus is on long-term herd improvement and consistency.

The Michelangelo line is selected for maternal strength, structural correctness, and long-term productivity.  These genetics produce functional, consistent goats with strong maternal ability and the durability required in a pasture-based system. This line forms the foundation of our registered breeding program, with a focus on producing dependable replacement females and maintaining overall herd quality.

The Casanova line is selected for growth, muscle, and overall performance. These genetics improve weaning weights, enhance carcass shape, and produce more uniform, consistent groups. Within our program, this line is used to produce registered breeding stock with added power, shape, and substance, while maintaining the kind of performance that translates into value when it matters..

In our program, both lines are used strategically. Casanova is used to add growth and shape, while Michelangelo is used to retain daughters and strengthen maternal traits. This approach helps maintain a herd that is both productive and efficient.

In addition to our Kiko sire lines, we also use select Boer influence when added muscle and market value are the priority.  FIL Twisted Pine Domo is used selectively to to add muscle, width, and presence to our program. He adds substance and visual distinction, producing thicker kids with added shape and expression. Domo is used strategically in crossbreeding to complement our Kiko genetics, resulting in hardy, functional goats with added muscle and dimension.

Bottom line:
If you want added growth and shape, lean toward Casanova.
If you want long-term, low-maintenance productivity, lean toward Michelangelo.
If you want both, using the two lines together creates a balanced herd without sacrificing performance.
